Important information

  • Your Oral-B toothbrush can connect to your smartphone (see Connecting your toothbrush to your smartphone for more information).
  • To avoid radio interference and/or compatibility issues, turn off the radio transmitter on the brush handle (5) before using it in restricted areas such as airplanes or designated areas in hospitals.
  • To turn off the radio transmitter, simultaneously press and hold the on/off button (3) and the mode button (4) for two seconds until the radio transmission display (7) goes out. Follow the same steps to turn the transmission back on.
  • If you use a pacemaker, do not bring the brush closer than 15 centimeters to it while it is on. If you experience interference, immediately turn off the radio transmitter in the handle.

Charging and use

Your toothbrush has a waterproof handle and is designed for safe use in the bathroom.

  • You can start using the toothbrush immediately or after a short charging period by placing it on the charging station (9). Note: if the battery is completely discharged (the charge level indicator light on the display (8) does not light up during charging, or the device does not respond to pressing the on/off button (3)), it is necessary to charge it for at least 30 minutes.
  • The charge level is displayed on the charge indicator (8). A flashing light means the brush is charging (Fig.①); Once charging is complete, the indicator light turns off. A full charge usually takes 15 hours and lasts for up to 12 days of regular toothbrush use (twice a day for two minutes) (Fig.①).
  • Note: If the device is completely discharged, the indicator light may not light up for the first 30 minutes of charging.
  • When the battery charge is low, the red indicator light on the charge level display starts flashing and the motor speed decreases. When completely discharged, the motor will stop; For single use, you will need to charge the device for at least 30 minutes.
  • You can keep the handle on the plugged-in charger at all times to maintain a full charge; The device is protected from overcharging. Note: For best performance, store the brush handle at room temperature.

Caution : Do not expose the handle to high temperatures above 50°C.

Using your toothbrush

Teeth brushing technique

Wet the brush head and apply any toothpaste. To prevent splashing, bring the brush head close to your teeth before pressing the button on the handle (Fig.②). If you are using one of the Oral-B rotating brush heads, move it slowly from tooth to tooth, pausing on each surface for a few seconds. When using the Oral-B TriZone , place the bristles of the brush against your teeth at a slight angle to the gum line. Apply gentle pressure and begin brushing in a back-and-forth motion, similar to a manual toothbrush. Regardless of the brush head you use, start on the outside of your teeth, move to the inside, and then clean the chewing surfaces. Give equal attention to all four quadrants of the mouth.

You can also consult your dentist or oral hygienist about the technique that is best for you.

During the first few days of using any electric toothbrush, your gums may bleed a little. Usually this phenomenon stops after a few days. If bleeding gums persist for two weeks, contact your dentist or oral hygienist. If you have sensitive teeth and/or gums, Oral-B recommends using the Sensitive mode (possibly in combination with the Oral-B Sensitive brush head).

Smart Ring

Your toothbrush is equipped with Smart Ring technology, which varies depending on the color of the light: White (default) = activity indicator and visual timer (select a different color in the Oral-B™ app settings)

red = pressure sensor indicator

blue = Bluetooth® connection indicator

Timer

You can choose "Professional" or "Two Minute" mode

The “Two Minute” timer turns on a long intermittent beep and a flashing Smart Ring light (2) when two minutes have elapsed—the length of time recommended by experts for brushing your teeth.

The “Professional” timer gives a signal to move to the next quadrant of the oral cavity with a short intermittent sound signal and a flashing Smart Ring light indicator (2) (Fig. ③). A long intermittent beep and a flashing light indicate the end of the two-minute period of brushing your teeth in accordance with the recommendations of specialists.

The timer remembers the elapsed time even if the brush is turned off briefly during use. The timer is reset when there is a pause longer than 30 seconds, a short press on the mode selection button (4) during the pause, or placing the brush handle on the charger.

Note: When using special options in the Oral-B™ app, the visual timer may be deactivated.

Timer setting:

By default, your brush has the Professional timer activated. To change settings, press and hold the mode button (4) for 2 seconds. Select the timer mode with the “on/off” button (3). Confirm your choice by pressing the mode button.

  • 2 light signals - “Two-minute” mode is selected
  • 4 light signals - “Professional” mode is selected

Note: You can also set/adjust the timer through the Oral-B™ app.

Pressure meter

If you press too hard on the brush, the Smart Ring (2) lights up red, indicating the need to release the pressure. In addition, the head will stop pulsating and its rotation speed will decrease (in “Daily”, “Professional” and “Sensitive” modes) (Fig.③). Periodically check the operation of the pressure sensor by applying gentle pressure to the brush during use.

Operating modes (depending on model)

Your toothbrush offers different brushing modes. The selected mode is reflected in the mode display (6) on the brush handle (except for the “Daily Cleaning” mode):

Daily brushing ” is a standard regimen for daily oral care

Professional cleaning ” – for a feeling of unusual cleanliness (high frequency of movements)

Gentle Cleaning ” – gentle but thorough cleaning of sensitive areas

3D White ” – polish for periodic or daily use

Gum care ” – gentle gum massage

Tongue hygiene ” – cleaning the tongue for periodic or daily use

To use the Tongue Hygiene mode, we recommend using the Sensitive attachment. You can clean your tongue with or without toothpaste. Brush the entire surface of the tongue with gentle, systematic movements. The recommended time is 20 seconds, its end is indicated by a flashing Smart Ring light signal.

Your toothbrush automatically starts in the last mode you selected. To switch to another mode, press the mode button successively while using the brush (Fig.④). To return to the “Daily Cleaning” mode from any other mode, press and hold the mode selection button (4).

Note: You can also select/adjust the mode through the Oral-B™ app.

Oral-B brush attachments: types and reviews

The Oral-B brand belongs to the German company Braun, and the same models of electric toothbrushes for different countries can be produced both under the Oral-B brand and under the Braun brand. Therefore, any replacement attachment for a Braun toothbrush is no different from a similar attachment for an Oral-B electric brush.

1 and 2. Cross-Action and Precision-Clean nozzles –

Cross-Action and Precision-Clean attachments are the basic ones, and believe me, you simply won’t need any others. Below is a photo of the attachments I buy for my electric toothbrush. Please note that in the photo the Cross-Action attachments are made in black, but they are also sold in regular white. Black ones are usually a little more expensive, but they are no different from white ones (except for the color).

Oral-B “Cross-Action” attachments –

Oral-B Precision-Clean brush heads –

These are the basic heads for Oral B toothbrushes and are suitable for regular, daily brushing. The only difference between them is that the Cross-Action nozzle has intersecting bristles (located at an angle of 16º), while the Precision-Clean has bristles located parallel to each other. The presence of intersecting bristles allows the latter to penetrate a little deeper into the interdental spaces. The cost of "Cross-Action" will be slightly higher.

From experience I can say that I did not notice much difference when using both types of attachments. If you regularly use dental floss, you can safely choose cheaper Precision-Clean heads - without compromising the quality of hygiene. If you don’t use dental floss, then don’t be too deluded that the intersecting bristles will compensate for the lack of dental floss. They won’t allow it, and therefore, even after brushing, some amount of food debris will still rot in the interdental spaces, causing caries there.

Important: but there is still one difference. I can confidently say that 1 Cross-Action nozzle lasts longer than 1 Precision-Clean nozzle. In the latter, the bristles begin to “fluff” much faster, which means you will have to change “Precision-Clean” attachments a little more often.

Nozzle “3D-White” –

This type of attachment can be translated as “Whitening”. It is designed to be similar to the special polishing heads that dentists use when polishing teeth and fillings. It itself has a special rubber rod (surrounded on all sides by bristles), which is designed for polishing tooth enamel. Below you can see a photo of the attachment I bought, by the way, which I was dissatisfied with.

Oral-B “3D-White” attachments –

This nozzle is positioned for people who prefer strong tea/coffee, as well as for smokers. However, from personal experience of using it, I can say that I did not notice any effectiveness at all. Moreover, the degree of cleaning of teeth from ordinary microbial plaque - the “3D-White” attachments will be much worse than what can be done with the Oral Bee toothbrush attachments of the “Cross-Action” or “Precision-Clean” types (due to the significantly smaller number of bristles on nozzle).

Nozzle “Sensitive” –

The “Sensitive” replacement head has soft, thin bristles (Fig. 7) and is intended for patients with increased tooth sensitivity.
Thus, if all other Oral-B brush heads have medium-hard bristles, the Sensitive brush head has ultra-soft bristles. This attachment can also be used for regular oral hygiene, but you should understand that soft bristles remove plaque much worse than medium-hard bristles. The latter means that heads for electric toothbrushes of the “Sensitive” type (with regular use) will lead to an increase in the amount of pigmented and microbial plaque, which in the long term increases the risk of developing gum inflammation and dental caries.

Sensi-Ultrathin nozzle –

The Sensi-Ultrathin replacement head has a combination of standard medium-hard bristles and ultra-fine soft bristles (Fig. 8). The first ones are located in the center of the nozzle, while thin bristles surround them around the perimeter with a thin ring. According to the manufacturer, the ring of ultra-thin bristles allows you to carefully care for sensitive gums and massage them.

In reality, everything is much simpler. The fact is that the use of attachments with medium-hard bristles in patients with chronic inflammation of the gums (for example, with gingivitis or periodontitis) will cause bleeding gums when brushing their teeth with an electric toothbrush. And the truth is that if your gums are bleeding, what you need is not a replacement gentle brush head, but a cleaning of dental plaque. Otherwise, the inflammation will continue to progress slowly.

Floss-Action attachment –

The Floss-Action replacement head has yellow rubber bristles (Fig. 9), which, according to the manufacturer’s plan, should penetrate deep into the interdental spaces and clean them (24stoma.ru). Probably, if you have very wide interdental spaces, then this could somehow be possible... But even in this case, I would not recommend Floss-Action to you, and I would still choose replaceable heads for an Oral toothbrush B – types such as Cross-Action or Precision-Clean.

Trizone nozzle –

This is the most ridiculous and useless type of attachment you can buy. The nozzle is divided into zones in which the bristles make multidirectional mechanical movements (Fig. 10). It should be noted that the level of plaque cleaning with Trizone nozzles is much worse compared to basic Cross-Action or Precision-Clean nozzles. In addition, this nozzle is quite difficult to rinse well (since it consists of several articulated parts), which will cause the gradual appearance of an unpleasant odor.

Oral-B Kids toothbrush attachments –

There are several options for replacement heads for Oral-B children's toothbrushes, but they all differ from each other only in design.
Essentially, the characteristics of these brush heads will be the same - the head of the replacement brush head will have soft, thin bristles, and in addition, the brush head will only perform back-and-forth movements (i.e., without the pulsating movements that Oral-B adult brushes have) . Example of Oral-B refills (for children over 3 years old) –

When a child turns 8-9 years old, he will be able to brush his teeth not only with special children’s brush heads, but also with the Oral-B “Sensitive” removable brush head for adults (designed for sensitive teeth). The bristles of this brush head are slightly stiffer than those of children's brush heads, but much softer than regular brush heads for adults.

Replaceable attachments

Oral-B offers you a variety of replacement attachments to fit your Oral-B handle.

Our rotating brush heads are used to precisely clean every tooth.

Oral-B CrossAction attachment

The most advanced of our attachments. Angled bristles for precise cleaning. Removes and eliminates plaque.

Oral-B FlossAction Attachment

Micropulsating bristles allow for effective plaque removal in the space between teeth

Oral-B 3D White

Special polishing cap for natural teeth whitening. Not suitable for use by children under 12 years of age.

Oral-B Sensi Ultrathin nozzle

It is a combination of regular bristles for cleaning the surface of teeth and ultra-fine bristles for cleaning areas along the gum line.

Most Oral-B brush heads are equipped with light blue INDICATOR® bristles, allowing you to keep track of when the brush head needs to be replaced. If you brush your teeth thoroughly twice a day for two minutes, the bristles will fade by half in about three months, demonstrating the need to change the brush head. If the bristles become frayed before the color has faded, you may be pressing too hard on the brush when brushing.

We do not recommend using Oral-B FlossAction or Oral-B 3D White attachments if you wear braces.

The Oral-B “Ortho” brush head is specially designed for cleaning teeth around braces and braces.

Types of nozzles

Oral-B brand attachments are regularly updated and improved: popular models are modernized and innovative ones are added. At the moment, the brand offers 8 types of attachments for electric brushes:

  1. Precision Clean - for daily care.
  2. Precision Clean Charcoal with charcoal - for daily care with an enamel brightening effect.
  3. CrossAction - for daily care and deeper cleaning of interdental spaces.
  4. 3D White - for removing pigmented plaque.
  5. Sensi Ultrathin - for the care of sensitive teeth and gums.
  6. Floss Action - for deep cleaning of interdental spaces.
  7. TriZone - for daily care. Oval shape of the nozzle.
  8. Stages Kids - for daily care of children's teeth.
  9. iO Ultimate Clean and iO Gentle Care - for daily care. For iO series brushes.

Precision Clean nozzle

The most affordable nozzle for daily teeth cleaning. The bristles of medium hardness are located parallel to each other and have different lengths. The shorter bristles in the center of the brush head form a cup that envelops each tooth as you brush. This brush head fits all Oral-B electric toothbrushes except the iO series. A 2022 update to the brush head is the addition of CleanMaximiser bristles. Previously, when it was time to replace the brush head, the bristles would become discolored, but now they change color from green to yellow.

Precision Clean Charcoal Attachment with Charcoal

An updated version of Precision Clean, finished in jet black. Each bristle is impregnated with charcoal to remove surface stains from enamel and strengthen gums. The brush head is compatible with all Oral-B electric brushes except the iO series.

CrossAction attachment

If you look closely at the nozzle, you will notice that it has two rows of cross bristles, inclined at a slight angle. This was done specifically to better clean the interdental spaces. The attachment is excellent. Removes plaque from teeth and gums well. However, it is important to understand that it is not enough to effectively clean the interdental spaces, especially dense teeth. To properly clean the interdental spaces, it is necessary to use additional hygiene products: dental floss, brushes or irrigators.

New to the brush head for 2022 are the CleanMaximiser indicator bristles, which change color from green to yellow when it's time to change to a new brush head. The brush head is compatible with all Oral-B electric toothbrushes except the iO series.

Nozzle 3D White

A medium-hard whitening head with a polishing rubber bowl in the center. Designed to remove pigmented plaque from enamel. However, in reality, the nozzle is dangerous. It scratches the enamel and increases the sensitivity of teeth and gums. In addition, the rubber bowl easily damages orthodontic structures, so the attachment is contraindicated for those with braces.

If you still decide to buy an attachment and mechanically polish the enamel, then use it, like whitening toothpaste, in courses for two weeks.

An update for this brush head in 2022 is the addition of green CleanMaximiser bristles that change color to yellow when it's time to change the brush head. The brush head fits all Oral-B electric toothbrushes except the iO series.

Sensi Ultrathin nozzle

With ultra-fine, dense, soft bristles, the Sensi Ultrathin brush head is one of the most popular brush heads in the entire Oral-B line. It really gently cleanses teeth and is more suitable than other attachments for caring for sensitive teeth. However, it does not solve the problems of enamel sensitivity. Due to the shortened bristles inside the head, it creates a smaller friction area and thus does not cause discomfort.

The latest updates to this attachment were in 2019-2020, when instead of a dense and dense central part, a cascading fan of bristles appeared, consisting of individual tufts. Then the nozzle was called Sensitive.

Like all Oral-B Sensi Ultrathin brush heads, there are indicator bristles that discolor by half and signal the need to replace the brush head. This brush head can be used with all Oral-B brushes except the iO series.

Floss Action

A special feature of the Floss Action attachment is the special MicroPulse bristles in the form of “rubber blades”. They are designed to penetrate between teeth and thoroughly clean hard-to-reach areas of the teeth. However, as we wrote earlier, other hygiene products are much more effective for cleaning interdental spaces: dental floss, brushes and irrigators.

An update for this brush head in 2022 is the addition of green CleanMaximiser bristles that change color to yellow when it's time to change the brush head. The brush head fits all Oral-B electric toothbrushes except the iO series.

TriZone nozzle

This attachment is visually different from the classic Oral-B attachments due to the oblong shape of the head. As planned, it should clean teeth with sweeping movements and be convenient for those who are accustomed to a manual brush. However, since Oral-B does not specialize in this technology, the cleaning effect of this attachment turned out to be weak. The brand itself recognized the attachments as ineffective and stopped their production.

Stages Kids attachments

The brush heads have even softer and denser bristles than the Sensi Ultrathin head, as well as a smaller brush head compared to adult models for gentle cleaning of baby teeth. All brush heads have indicator bristles that discolor halfway when it's time to change the brush head. The main update to the Kids line was the thickening of the bristles. Now it has become even thicker and softer than before.

Kids brush heads are compatible with all Oral-B electric toothbrushes except the iO series.

iO Ultimate Clean and Gentle Care nozzle

Innovative magnetic drive heads specially designed for Oral-B iO electric brushes. The Ultimate Clean brush head with medium-hard bristles is suitable for daily use. Thanks to the tuft-in-tuft structure, the bristles penetrate deeper into the interdental spaces.

The Gentle Care brush head has soft bristles and is designed for sensitive teeth and gums. The curved shape adapts to the shape of teeth and gums, ensuring smooth gliding. Efficiency and delicacy are achieved due to the high density of the head (more than 4000 bristles). iO attachments are only compatible with brushes from this series.

Connecting a toothbrush to a smartphone

The Oral-B™ app is available for mobile devices running iOS or Android operating systems. It can be downloaded from App Store(SM) or Google Play™.

A sensor is built into the handle of the toothbrush, which, through a mobile application, determines the location of the toothbrush and helps brush your teeth. Use a smartphone holder (for more details, see the “Accessories – Smartphone Holder” section).

What's more, the Oral-B™ app allows you to track your brushing progress and create custom brush settings (see Oral-B™ app instructions for other benefits).

  • Launch the Oral-B™ app. It will help you set up a Bluetooth connection.
  • Note: The functionality of the Oral-B™ app is limited if your smartphone's Bluetooth wireless technology is disabled (refer to your smartphone's manual for connection instructions).
  • All instructions for using the application will be displayed on your smartphone.
  • If Bluetooth wireless technology is activated on the brush handle, the Bluetooth symbol on the radio transmission display (7) will light up. Once the connection is established, the Smart Ring (2) will blink once.
  • When using the brush, keep your smartphone nearby (up to 5 m). Make sure it is placed securely in a dry place.

Note: To connect to your toothbrush, your smartphone must have Bluetooth 4.0 (or higher)/Bluetooth Smart.

A list of compatible smartphones is available in the App Store(SM) or Google Play™.

Test of several (Chinese) ORAL-B toothbrush heads

Replacement heads for Oral BI - what they are, and is it worth buying them in Chinese stores? It happened that one day my dentist advised me to buy an electric toothbrush, I previously thought that it was all rather “for children” and did not take this seriously for myself.:) Doctor explained why a simple toothbrush cannot replace an electric one, especially for people prone to periodontal disease or other gum diseases.:) It is impossible to massage the gums with a simple brush, comparable to the massage produced by an electric brush. I really noticed that very soon my gums began to “feel much better”, although at first there was an “indescribable sensation” of shaking my head when brushing, until I got used to it and adjusted... but by the way, “that’s not what the song is about.” Naturally, after a while the only head included in the kit began to “ask” for replacement, and the replacement (as it turned out) was quite expensive. At the time when I started looking (more than a year and a half ago) from 600 rubles and above for one piece. At the same time, the Chinese had similar heads with an indecently low price tag for 4! pieces are about 60-80 rubles! — the toad won, I decided to try the Chinese! Well, as they say, “the first pancake turned out to be lumpy”, the second one too, on the third I found a more interesting option... - that’s why I decided to write this review:) ALL the links I ordered from are no longer valid (a year and a half has passed since the first order), but all representatives of this review can be found by typing in the search You will recognize them by their appearance:) Three types of attachments that have “passed” (or NOT passed) the “test of time” and by me:)

So the first ones were ordered like this:

This implied some kind of particularly thorough cleansing with the help of additional. rubber attachments in the brush... As it turned out later, this is not entirely the main thing... In principle, the brush itself, in terms of hardness and sensations, did not reveal any particular difference from the original one at first (though I didn’t like the rubber inserts), but after working for about a week, unpleasant sensations appeared at first “biting” the cheek with a hole with a moving rod (or rather a spring on it). This happened infrequently and more often when the battery was low. This was the first unpleasant moment, the next was the breakdown of the nozzle. Those. it just stopped spinning. Moreover, all four nozzles broke quite quickly - the average operating time of one nozzle turned out to be about 10 days :( From a hygiene point of view, it may have worked out well, but somehow I didn’t expect to change the attachments so often, and although it still turned out inexpensively, such a result was not interesting. What a price - such a quality - I couldn’t help but think... BUT I decided to continue the experiment, especially since the next “batch” of attachments was already on its way to me :)

Second type of nozzles

Unfortunately, there is no photo of the blister, but the brushes themselves (outwardly) were most similar to the original one that came with the toothbrush.

In short, history has completely repeated itself!:( I tried to ask the seller if there are brushes of normal quality, albeit more expensive, but NORMAL!? The seller immediately began to offer to return the money, and in short, did not answer anything about the models... however, I did not take the money, because... In principle, they are small, and the seller seemed honest.

Well, “God loves a trinity”... I decided to try my luck a third time.:) Another order was placed, with several different shaped attachments...

These “test” attachments passed successfully!:) I can’t judge the quality of cleaning (I didn’t notice much of a difference between them), except that when changing, some difference is felt. But the third type of attachments DID NOT BREAK!

Perhaps over time, something has changed with the quality of the Chinese, but I made my choice! :)

Photo comparison of these three types of brushes

Next is the opening of one of the nozzles, and the actual probable causes of the breakdown. in the upper part there is a lock that can be pulled out and the nozzle is partially disassembled

To disassemble it further, you need to pull out the bushing from the bottom; it is difficult to pull it out without breaking it; in this case, I simply broke off part of it to speed up and simplify “disassembly” :)

Location of breakdown (marked by arrow)

Unfortunately, I don’t have a photo of the disassembled original, but I’ll explain it “on my fingers.” The original has a thicker “T”-shaped rod, which actually rotates the head of the nozzle, and it obviously has better welding. And, by the way, the “third type” nozzles, which did not break, also have a thicker rod and a slightly different design, due to the second moving head. As usual, the size of the nozzle...

Nozzle weight

The brush head itself...

Conclusion: I'm still buying China! :)

You can buy, but not all attachments...

Pros: “cheap and tasty”, in principle, maybe I’m a bad taster, but I didn’t notice much of a difference with the original. Cons - many types of attachments are VERY short-lived and have a tendency to "pinch" the cheek SOMETIMES. Although it is quite likely that this may apply to the original, I simply did not encounter this problem during cleaning.

Accessories

(Depending on model)

Smartphone holder

  • Before each use, make sure that the mirror to which the holder will be attached, the suction cups (11d) and the holder brackets (11a) are clean and dry (Fig. B1). Oral-B strictly adheres to the Bluetooth standard, which allows Bluetooth devices to connect and operate in conjunction with Oral-B toothbrushes.

However, if the device manufacturer does not comply with this standard, it may affect the compatibility and operation of Bluetooth devices and cause difficulties for the user. Please note that the software installed on your Bluetooth device may significantly affect connectivity and performance.

Braun toothbrush head: price 2022

So how much does a Braun / Oral-B toothbrush head cost for 2021... We analyzed the prices in the official Oral-B online store and compared them with prices in popular online stores, and this is what we came up with.

The most affordable price for replacement tips was on the website “apteka.ru”. For example, a package of “PRECISION CLEAN 2+1” nozzles (3 pcs.) will cost you about 650-750 rubles. A package of “CROSS ACTION” attachments (4 pcs.) will cost you about 1150-1250 rubles. Slight differences in price depend on the region to which the order will be delivered. In most other online stores, the price will in any case be slightly higher, but you shouldn’t even go to the official Oral-B online store - the price there is almost 2 times higher.

Important: let us also draw your attention to the Chinese analogues of Oral-B/Braun attachments, which are sold in packs of 10 pieces. and are immediately several times cheaper than the original attachments. From personal experience, I can say that the bristles of such attachments are of such poor quality that they begin to fluff after the first 1-2 brushes of the teeth (after which the attachment can be immediately thrown away). We hope that our article was useful to you!
